Fort Wayne, Ind.— Do it Best Corp. has deployed a mobile web site for doitbest.com, the co-op’s e-commerce site and the “world’s largest hardware store®.” The site, m.doitbest.com, draws smartphone shoppers into member-owned stores by providing them with information about the 65,000 available SKUs, a locator for finding nearby stores, and free shipping of online orders using the co-op’s Ship-to-Store feature.
The mobile web site is simple by design. “Our mobile site is very user-friendly and gives shoppers easy access to the breadth and depth of the products we offer, as well as the locations of the closest member stores,” said Joe Caldwell, Do it Best Corp. e-commerce manager. “They can also order online from their smartphone and have it delivered directly to their local store at no cost via Ship-to-Store.”
The co-op leveraged its existing technology to develop an efficient, cross-platform compatible mobile web site, which works slightly differently than doitbest.com. The site refines the search using category data, as compared to using a product-based search process, of the more than 65,000 SKUs available. This simplified process gives the consumer a more focused and specific result with fewer clicks. The mobile web site’s fast loading speed also allows for quicker results.
