Do it Best Corp. purchasing is composed of two divisions: hardware products, which also consists of  inventory control and global sourcing, and lumber and building materials, which is made up of all commodity, millwork, lumber, and industrial/commercial purchasing.  Lumber and building materials staff are based at Do it Best Corp. offices in Fort Wayne, IN; Woodburn, OR; Lexington, SC; Burnsville, MN; and Newburgh, NY. Each account executive and buyer works with members in a specific area of the U.S.

Members buy national, regional, and private-label merchandise from Do it Best Corp., shipped either from the Do it Best Corp. retail service center (RSC), or directly from manufacturers. Within purchasing are these major departments: building materials, millwork, home and hardware, building specialties, tools, plumbing, heating, electrical, automotive, housewares, lawn and garden, outdoor power, fasteners, farm and ranch, paint, outdoor living, and trim-a-tree.  Each of these departments reviews new products, negotiates pricing, and establishes other vendor and retail promotional programs.

Analysts in inventory control are responsible for maintaining the appropriate level of inventory in Do it Best Corp. RSCs.  Global sourcing is responsible for all off shore purchasing.  Industrial/commercial (INCOM®) focuses on “pure play” INCOM members, who require a unique product selection, catalog, and promotional efforts.
